The cushions’ trip to Syria

Cushions cross by road to Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama and take about two weeks. Open the bag on arrival and let the filling expand before judging the thickness.

Why the size matters

A cushion is light but wide, so the carton is counted by volume. The reference for a 60×40×40 cm carton up to 15 kg is 15 to 20 dollars by region, customs excluded.

Compressing the cushions

Cushions are emptied of air and sealed in tight bags to shrink the carton, while bead-filled types should not be compressed. Large majlis orders get a separate quote.

Filling and cover before ordering

Seating cushions for the floor come filled with shredded foam, fibre or beads, and covered in cotton, velvet or faux leather. Choose a thickness that works for long sittings, make sure a zip lets you wash the cover, and compare the diameter given in centimetres, since it sets the carton size more than the weight does.

Transit, delivery and price by country

Syria: overland in around two weeks to Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama, with cushions compressed in bags to shrink the carton. Jordan: land or sea depending on how many cushions, delivered in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa and Aqaba. The Gulf: by air from Istanbul in 3 to 5 days, charged by volume because a cushion is light yet bulky. Furnishing shops and majlis suppliers get a separate quote for quantities.
