Buying cushion covers from a Turkish store

Pick covers in the size of the inserts you already have and read the fabric in the description, from kilim to velvet and embroidery. Enter the receiving-centre address with your box number, or send the links through Buy for Me if the store rejects your card; the parcel waits free in the warehouse for 30 days.

How the cushions reach Syria

Covers travel by land for about two weeks after the shipment leaves and are delivered in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama. Covers are folded and sealed in bags, and filled cushions are vacuum compressed where possible.

Volume matters more than weight

A filled cushion is light but takes room, so it is charged on volume. A medium carton (60×40×40 cm, up to 15 kg) with a reference price of 15 to 20 US dollars by region, customs excluded, holds dozens of folded covers but far fewer full cushions.

Covers or inserts?

Turkey is known for kilim, velvet and hand-embroidered cushion covers. Buy covers alone where possible, and if you need inserts, ask for vacuum compression. Check the cover size in centimetres before buying inserts. Charges may apply in Syria by value and quantity, and commercial quantities need a separate quote.

Covers or full cushions

Cushion covers fold small and cost far less to ship than filled cushions, so covers alone suit anyone with inserts at home. Read the cover size in centimetres and check the fabric, kilim or velvet, before paying.

Transit, delivery and price by country

Syria: covers arrive by land after about two weeks, and a single carton holds many of them because they are folded flat. Jordan: land freight is enough for most orders, and covers are best combined with curtains and throws in one parcel. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman: air from Istanbul suits folded covers because they carry little volume, while filled cushions are priced up by volume. Charges may apply by value and quantity in each country, and shops that resell get a separate quote.
