Shipping Rugs from Turkey to Syria, Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia: Cost and Time

What matters when shipping rugs

A long rug is wrapped in moisture-resistant plastic, which protects it on the long land route.

Rolling and wrapping

Rugs are rolled, never folded, because folds leave marks, and wrapped in plastic against moisture and dust. Ask for size, colour and edges to be checked at the warehouse before closing, and a photo of the rug once wrapped.

Size and fibre

Rugs come in standard sizes, so measure the room and mark the seating area before ordering. Check the pile height and fibre: polypropylene is easier to clean than wool, while wool lasts longer and is warmer.

Density and design

Knot density tells you durability more than the pattern does. Machine-woven rugs are cheaper and suit daily use, while hand-made ones cost more and need care, so ask how a rug is made before paying.

Weight and how it is charged

A large rug is heavy and long, and the shipping is based on weight and volume, which can exceed the price of a cheap rug. Compare the total before ordering and use the calculator to estimate the gap.
