Shipping Kitchen Sinks from Turkey to Syria, Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

What matters when shipping kitchen sinks

Sinks are bulky, and granite ones heavy and breakable; ask for corner protectors and a double carton, land is clearly cheaper for sinks, and combine them with taps in one shipment.

Size and worktop cut-out

Measure the worktop cut-out or base cabinet width before ordering, as the sink must match exactly. Stainless steel is lighter and cheaper, granite more scratch-resistant and heavier, and check the tap hole count.

Stainless steel or granite

A stainless steel sink is light and easy to fit and grade 304 is the most rust-resistant; a composite granite sink is heavier and resists scratches and heat better. Ask about the steel thickness in millimetres, because thicker steel drums less and is sturdier.

Dimensions and the cabinet opening

Before buying, measure the inside of the base cabinet and the depth of the worktop and leave a margin for fitting, then compare with the sink dimensions and the number of bowls (single or double) and whether a drainer is included. Check the tap-hole position and the drain diameter so it fits your trap.

The sink is heavy and bulky

A sink travels in a large carton and shipping is charged on the greater of actual and dimensional weight, so ask for the carton size and weight before paying. Ask for foam on the corners, inspect the sink on arrival before fitting it, and record any scratch with a clear photo.
