Many are 100 percent cotton; check the composition in the listing.

Should I wash pyjamas before first use?

What matters when shipping kids pyjamas

Pyjamas are light and soft, so they fill gaps in a carton; combine them with bulkier clothes in a single parcel.

Cotton and sizing

Turkish cotton is soft and gentle on kids skin, and 100 percent cotton is best for sleeping in hot weather. Kids sizes vary between brands, so compare the chart by height; cotton may shrink slightly after the first wash.

Cotton for sleep

The best children’s pyjamas have a high cotton share because it absorbs sweat and does not irritate sensitive skin. Avoid thick synthetic fabrics for summer sleep, and watch for labels and inner seams that may bother the child.

Set or one piece

A one-piece suit keeps little ones warm as they move in their sleep, while a two-piece set is easier to change. Choose by the child’s age and night-time bathroom needs.

Extra length and shrinkage

Raw cotton may shrink after the first washes, so slightly longer sleeves and legs than the measurement are preferable. If the child is growing fast, pick one size larger.
