What matters when shipping hoodies and sweatshirts

Hoodies weigh more than T-shirts because the fabric is thick, but they fold and compress in a parcel; land suits larger quantities while air suits a few pieces.

Fabric and size

Cotton with a light fleece lining is warmer for winter, while light cotton suits milder seasons. Check the size chart because oversized cuts are common and sizing differs by brand.

Fabric weight and lining type

A winter hoodie is described in grams per square metre: 280 to 400 means a heavy fabric lined with brushed fleece inside, while under 250 suits autumn and spring. Ask whether the lining is brushed cotton or faux fleece, because brushed cotton survives repeated washing better and pills less.

Cut and size between men’s and women’s

An oversize hoodie is sold in sizes that look large, so if you want a regular cut, order one size down. Check sleeve length and body length in centimetres, whether the front kangaroo pocket is roomy and the drawcord is removable, because these details change between brands.

Common mistakes when ordering hoodies

Many people assume a light hoodie keeps you as warm as a heavy one, but between 250 and 380 grams the difference in cold weather is large. Make sure the picture shows the true colour in daylight, because light grey sometimes looks white, and choose a printed logo rather than an embroidered one if you want lighter fabric and a lower price.
