How a display cabinet reaches Syria

The shipment arrives by road within about two weeks and is delivered in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama. At handover, open the cartons in front of the courier, inspect the glass and hinges, and photograph any breakage or scratch before you sign.

Volume and a reference price

A cabinet is heavy, large and carries glass, so volume and weight set the price rather than the number of pieces. A medium carton (60×40×40 cm, up to 15 kg) carries a reference price from 15 up to 20 dollars, while full cabinets are priced for each shipment.

Breakage-proof packing

Ask for each glass pane to be wrapped separately in foam with reinforced cardboard corners and a glass label on the cartons. Showrooms are quoted on their own.

Glass, lighting and clearance

Measure the planned wall, the passage and the door the cabinet has to pass through before ordering, and choose tempered glass since it is stronger and safer when it breaks. If it has internal lighting, check the plug type and voltage, and make sure the glass shelves carry the weight of the crystal and plates you plan to show. Ask whether it is sold flat-packed or assembled, and whether the glass is wrapped separately.

Transit, delivery and price by country

Syria: shipping is by land with delivery after about two weeks in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama, and the cabinet ships flat-packed with the glass wrapped separately. Jordan: by land or sea depending on the shipment, with delivery in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa and Aqaba; sea is the cheaper option for large cabinets. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman: air from Istanbul in 3 to 5 days is possible for a small cabinet but impractical for a large one heavy with glass, so estimate the parcel first. Charges may apply in each country by value and quantity, and showrooms and furniture shops get a separate quote.
