The route for copperware into Syria

The shipment rides overland for about two weeks and arrives in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama. On receipt check the engraving and rims for any fold, confirm the handles are sound, and photograph any dent before you sign.

Piece size and cost

Large trays take up room even if they are not heavy, while small coffee pots save on shipping. The medium carton (60×40×40 cm, up to 15 kg) is a reference 15 to 20 US dollars by region, customs excluded.

Packing against scratches

Ask for each piece to be wrapped in paper and then bubble wrap, with trays standing between layers. Syria may add charges by value and quantity, and gift-shop orders are quoted on their own.

Use and engraving before ordering

Turkish copperware splits into pieces for everyday use, such as the coffee pot and jug, and display pieces such as engraved trays and wall plates. Read the listing to learn whether the inner lining is fit for cooking, and look at the depth of the engraving and the thickness of the metal, since a thin piece dents easily in transit.

Transit, delivery and price by country

Syria: copperware arrives by land after about two weeks in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama, and trays stand upright between cardboard layers to protect their engraving. Jordan: land suits Amman, Irbid and Aqaba, and sea suits large quantities or gift-shop orders. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman: air from Istanbul suits coffee pots, jugs and small pieces, while large trays take space and are charged on their dimensions. Charges may apply in each country by value and quantity, and gift shops get a separate quote.
