How bookshelves reach Syria

They travel by land for about two weeks after the shipment leaves and are delivered in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama. Open the box and compare the parts and screws against the assembly list, check the panels for scratches and breakage, and photograph any shortage before you sign.

Bulky size and assembly

A bookshelf is bulky, so ask for it flat-packed to lower the shipping cost. A medium carton (60×40×40 cm, up to 15 kg) with a reference price of 15 to 20 US dollars by region, customs excluded, usually will not hold one, so ask for the price by the size and weight of the parcel, and fix a tall bookshelf to the wall after assembly.

Sizes and wall fixing

Measure wall height and space width before ordering, and check the shelf depth suits your books. Tall bookcases need wall fixing to prevent tipping, especially in kids rooms, so make sure the fixing kit is included. Charges may apply in Syria by value and quantity, and commercial quantities need a separate quote.

Depth, height and wall fixing before ordering

A bookshelf is chosen by what it will carry: read in the description the depth and height of the shelves, the maximum load per shelf, whether it arrives flat-packed or assembled, whether wall-fixing parts are included, and the material (particle board, metal or solid wood), so the shelves do not bow under the weight of books.

Transit, delivery and price by country

Syria: bookshelves arrive by land after about two weeks in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama, and they are bulky, so ask for them flat-packed and check the assembly and wall-fixing parts on receipt. Jordan: land or sea is cheaper for large bookshelves, and for delivery in Amman and Irbid measure the building entrance and the lift before ordering. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman: air from Istanbul is counted by volume and weight and can be costly for large bookshelves, so compare sea freight when it is not urgent. Charges may apply in each country by value and quantity, and shops get a separate quote.
